WordPress or Astro? We build both — so we can tell you the truth about which suits you
Most web studios only build one and quietly steer you toward it. We build in both, so the recommendation you get is about your business, not about what we happen to know how to make.
Here's our honest position up front: for most local businesses we recommend WordPress, because you'll want to update the site yourself and it's built for exactly that. But there's a real set of cases where Astro is the better call — and we'll say so when it's yours. This page explains how we decide.
Two Good Tools for Different Jobs
Neither is "better." They are built for different situations. Here is what each one is genuinely good at, in plain terms.
The dynamic dashboard build
A proper editing dashboard behind your site. Best if you want a dashboard to change prices, add blog posts, or edit photos yourself.
- You add blog posts, projects, or products yourself, whenever you like.
- Someone on your team edits pages regularly without calling a developer.
- You run an online shop with lots of products.
- You want bookings, memberships, or similar features off the shelf.
- You expect the site to grow and change a lot over time.
The ultra-fast static website
A modern, database-free website built for speed. Best if you want maximum speed, zero upkeep updates, and complete security.
- Your pages are mostly fixed — services, about, contact — and change rarely.
- Raw loading speed is a priority (Astro compiles pages into database-free, ultra-fast HTML).
- No database overhead or security vulnerabilities (static HTML is virtually impossible to hack).
- You are happy for us to make the occasional change for you.
- A brochure-style site that needs to look sharp and load instantly.
How we actually choose
It nearly always comes down to these. Read down the list — wherever most of your answers land is usually your build.
Will you edit the site yourself, often?
Prices, blog posts, new project photos, team changes
Do you need a blog, shop, or bookings you manage?
Lots of self-served content or products
Is the site mostly fixed pages that rarely change?
Services, about, contact — set and leave
Is raw speed your top priority?

When a business genuinely isn't sure, we lean WordPress — because the thing people underestimate is how often they will want to change something once the site is live, and WordPress makes that painless. We only steer you to Astro when the answers above clearly point there. Either way, it is a recommendation you are free to overrule.
What each one costs to run
The build cost is similar either way. The real difference shows up after launch — and we would rather you knew before you chose.
Build price
Broadly the same for either. What moves the price is the size of the site and its features — not the tool underneath. You get a transparent quote up front regardless of which way you go.
Ongoing upkeep
This is the real split. WordPress needs regular updates to stay fast and secure — that is the price of its flexibility. Astro has almost nothing to maintain once it is live. Neither is a flaw; it is a genuine tradeoff between control and simplicity.
Care plans for both — and no obligation
We offer ongoing care plans whichever build you choose: updates, backups, security, and small changes handled for you. WordPress benefits from one more than Astro does, but it is optional either way — you can take a plan, or take the keys and run it yourself.
Whichever you pick, you own it — and you can leave
No lock-in, on either build. You own the domain, the code, the content, and the design. If you ever want to move it elsewhere or bring it in-house, you can. We build things you are free to walk away with — that's the point.
